Film adaptations of movies are often controversial, but sometimes writers and directors get it right (such as the Harry Potter series). 

Award winning novel The Hate U Give was recently adapted to film with great success. With a cast full of stars, a compelling and thought-provoking plot, and a score of 97% from movie review site Rotten Tomatoes consider giving this one a watch (and a read).
