Story time isn't just for kids

Reading texts out loud to a group, known as a read aloud, is often associated with elementary story time. However, research shows that reading aloud both fiction and non-fiction texts has benefits for participants of all ages. Some of the benefits include:
  • Increased vocabulary
  • An increase in classroom community
  • Improved diction and tone
  • Opportunity for greater text comprehension
  • Inclusivity

Our School and Community Leadership classes learned about these benefits and practiced leading interactive read alouds with their peers. The classes will prepare a read aloud to complete with the BOCES students to help foster a love of literature.
